The 87th Carmel Bach Festival, which runs from July 13 to July 27, has appointed Nathan Lutz as its new executive director. Lutz, who has a decade of music administration experience, has worked with three major U.S. orchestras. He has been a dedicated member of the festival since childhood, having worked with Derek Weller, the orchestra’s double bass teacher. Lutz has previously served as the director of operations and education programs at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, where he managed a $10 million budget, orchestra and concert production, and negotiated collective bargaining agreements. He has also served as assistant personnel manager for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and a double bass fellow for the New World Symphony in Miami.
Lutz is honored to join the festival and is excited to support the artistic leadership of Grete Pederson and Andrew Megill. Pedersen, the principal conductor and artistic director, is thrilled to start the collaboration with Lutz and believes he will be a leader who will move the festival forward in an excellent way.
